Tottenham are still on track to break their 17-year trophy drought and clinch a title in Ange Postecoglou’s second year after securing a 2-0 victory against Bodo/Glimt to advance to the Europa League final.
Having held a two-goal advantage from the first leg in north London last week, Spurs were advised to be prepared for a tough test on Bodo’s challenging artificial turf in the Arctic Circle.
Both teams were greeted with a fireworks display as they took to the Aspmyra Stadion field, yet Postecoglou's side impressed with a solid defensive performance in the opening half before scoring twice in the latter period.
Dominic Solanke broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute with his 15th goal of the season, followed by a fortuitous cross-shot from Pedro Porro six minutes later, virtually securing Tottenham's spot in the final in Bilbao.
This will mark only the second European final that Spurs have reached in the past 40 years. Despite a disappointing Premier League campaign that has seen the team languishing in 16th place, Postecoglou remains committed to his promise of winning a trophy in his second season.
