Jovan Malcolm nets two goals in Gateshead's victory over Forest Green

Jovan Malcolm scored two goals in the first half, helping Gateshead secure a 3-2 victory against Forest Green in the National League play-off match.

Malcolm found the net early and late in the first 45 minutes before Liam Humbles added another goal for Gateshead.

In the end, Gateshead manager Carl Magnay had a tense moment as an own goal by George Shelvey in the 87th minute and Christian Doidge's stoppage-time goal put pressure on the away team. However, Gateshead managed to hold on and climbed to the fifth position in the league.

The game kicked off with Malcolm scoring just 41 seconds into the match, giving Gateshead a strong start.

Malcolm scored his second goal just before halftime, while Humbles extended their lead with an impressive goal in the 62nd minute.

Forest Green received a lifeline in the dying moments of the game when Regan Booty's pass was unintentionally headed into the net by Gateshead's goalkeeper Shelvey.

Despite Doidge scoring a late goal, Gateshead secured the win and moved up to fifth place, trailing Forest Green by two spots in the standings.
