Swindon managed to score three goals starting from the 87th minute to secure an exciting victory against a Tranmere team that ended the game with only nine players.
Paul Glatzel, Harry Smith, and Kabongo Tshimanga found the back of the net in the final moments of the match after Cameron Norman was shown a red card. Declan Drysdale later sealed the 3-1 win in stoppage time.
Tranmere seemed poised to claim their first win at the County Ground in nearly two decades following a stunning goal from Josh Davison.
The former Swindon loanee raced down the right side and scored an incredible goal from a very tight angle just seven minutes into the game.
After that early setback, Swindon goalkeeper Jack Bycroft managed to tip Sol Solomon's curling free-kick over the bar with a strong hand.
In the second half, Smith came close to scoring from a corner kick before Swindon substitute Danny Butterworth hit the post with a deflected shot.
A mistimed challenge on Smith resulted in Norman receiving a second yellow card in the 62nd minute.
Tranmere appeared to be holding firm, but with only three minutes of regular time remaining, Glatzel scored in a crowded penalty area.
In the 90th minute, Smith scored from close range, and then Drysdale was sent off for a handball. Tshimanga calmly converted the resulting penalty in the 94th minute to lift Swindon to 16th place.
