Rochdale failed to secure their spot in the National League play-offs with a 0-0 draw against relegated Fylde. The day was marked with tributes to former player Joe Thompson, who passed away at 36 after battling cancer for the third time.
A minute's applause was held before kick-off in honor of Thompson, with another tribute in the 15th minute, representing his former jersey number. Rochdale now have a four-point lead over eighth-placed Southend and still hold an advantage with a game in hand over their rivals.
During the match, Devante Rodney and Aidan Barlow had chances in the first half, while Kyron Gordon made a crucial block for Rochdale. In the second half, Kairo Mitchell's shot was saved by Fylde's goalkeeper, who also denied Kyle Ferguson and Harvey Gilmour.
In added time, Fylde almost stole the victory with Max Bardell coming close to scoring from Gavin Massey's cross.
