Hartlepool foils Gateshead's play-off hopes with 3-2 victory

Promotion contenders Gateshead experienced consecutive defeats in the National League as they lost 3-2 to Hartlepool.

Joe Grayson missed a chance for Gateshead early in the game, but Hartlepool scored first in the 25th minute with a header from Luke Charman following a free-kick.

Reyes Cleary had a shot cleared off the goal line as Hartlepool aimed to increase their lead. The home team doubled their advantage in the 43rd minute with a calm finish from forward Reyes Cleary.

Gateshead managed to score a goal at the beginning of the second half through Jovan Malcolm's free-kick. However, Hartlepool quickly regained their two-goal lead when Mani Dieseruvwe headed in a goal in the 72nd minute.

Jamie Bramwell scored from a corner in the final moments of the game as Gateshead tried to mount a late comeback. Despite their efforts, Hartlepool held on to secure the victory and collect three points. This result kept Gateshead just above the play-off spots by a margin of two points.
