Stockport are on the brink of securing a place in the play-offs of the Sky Bet League One following Jack Diamond’s last-gasp goal that secured a 1-1 draw against Peterborough.
Ricky-Jade Jones' early goal seemed to be leading the Vertu Trophy champions to victory at the Weston Homes Stadium, but Stockport's late equalizer now puts them nine points ahead of Reading in seventh place with a much better goal difference.
The match started with a worrying injury to Peterborough midfielder Archie Collins, and Stockport's Kyle Wootton missed the target with his effort to meet Ollie Norwood's free-kick.
Peterborough took the lead just before half-time through a counterattack in the 43rd minute when Jones outpaced Ethan Pye and calmly slotted the ball home.
The second half saw Stockport showing more attacking intent, with Norwood testing Peterborough goalkeeper Jed Steer with a shot before curling a free-kick over the bar.
However, Stockport had to wait until stoppage time to save the game, as Diamond struck a brilliant shot from outside the box into the bottom corner to secure a vital point.
