Chelsea secures convincing victory in Warsaw thanks to Tyrique George's debut goal

Tyrique George got his first goal for Chelsea as the team coached by Enzo Maresca comfortably defeated Legia Warsaw with a 3-0 advantage heading into the next leg of their Conference League quarter-final.

The match at Stamford Bridge next week is likely just a formality as Chelsea are in a strong position to secure a spot in the semi-finals after scoring three goals in the second half to make up for a lackluster first period.

The highlight of the game was when 19-year-old academy graduate George scored quickly inside the box after Reece James' shot was saved, followed by a goal from substitute Noni Madueke shortly after.

Madueke scored his second goal 15 minutes before the end, tapping in a goal just after Christopher Nkunku missed a penalty.

It took until the 34th minute for Chelsea to force a significant save from Legia goalkeeper Kacper Tobiasz.

After an attempt by Cole Palmer was blocked, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's shot towards the corner was well saved by Tobiasz diving at full stretch.

James highlighted Chelsea's struggles in attack when he blasted a shot high and wide from long range, reflecting their frustrations in the first half.

Dewsbury-Hall missed a chance to put Chelsea ahead at halftime with a header off target in a half where Chelsea had over 70% possession but only managed two shots on goal.

Palmer, who hasn't scored since January 14, was substituted at halftime after a quiet performance, with Madueke coming on in his place.

The second half began with Dewsbury-Hall missing a clear header over the crossbar.

Chelsea found the breakthrough with George capitalizing on a rebound after Tobiasz saved James' shot.

The goal spurred Chelsea into action.

By the 55th minute, it was 2-0 as Tobiasz's poor clearance led to a goal for Madueke who was left unmarked in the box.

Although Tobiasz saved Nkunku's penalty, Madueke quickly scored his second and Chelsea's third from Sancho's cross.

Legia's chances would have been better if Filip Jorgensen hadn't made a crucial save to deny Patryk Kun in the final moments.
