Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush ensured Manchester City still have a chance to win a trophy this season by coming from behind to defeat Bournemouth 2-1 and advance to the FA Cup semi-finals.
At halftime, Pep Guardiola’s team was losing to Evanilson’s goal, following Haaland missing three clear chances within six minutes, putting Bournemouth on track for their first ever appearance in the last four.
However, Haaland equalized for City after the break and Marmoush, who came on for the injured Haaland, scored the winning goal to secure a spot in the semi-finals against Nottingham Forest at Wembley.
Despite the speculation of a different team winning the cup this year, City remains a strong contender to win it again.
In reality, City should have been three goals up within the first 16 minutes, but Haaland missed three great opportunities in a row.
Bournemouth took advantage of City's missed chances in the 21st minute when Evanilson scored from a cross by Justin Kluivert, as Haaland's earlier misses haunted the visitors.
Bournemouth, having a remarkable season under Andoni Iraloa, were dominating the game while City's midfield trio of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Ilkay Gundogan struggled on the pitch.
The hosts nearly doubled their lead with a Brooks free-kick that narrowly missed the target.
With the score at 1-0, City still had hope, especially as De Bruyne and Foden had attempts on goal before Haaland finally found the net early in the second half.
Haaland's goal, his 30th of the season, was followed by an injury-forced exit from the game after a collision with Cook, leading to Marmoush taking his place and promptly putting City in the lead.
Although Marmoush almost scored another goal, Bournemouth appeared fatigued, and City managed to hold on for the win in stoppage time, securing their place in a record seventh consecutive FA Cup semi-final.
