Norwich secures victory over West Brom with Josh Sargent scoring late goal

Josh Sargent scored a late goal for Norwich securing a 1-0 victory at Carrow Road, keeping their slim chances alive for making it to the Championship play-offs. This defeat also dealt a blow to West Brom’s hopes of promotion.

Sargent calmly found the back of the net, marking his 13th goal of the season in a game with few scoring opportunities.

In the dying moments of the match, goalkeeper Angus Gunn made a crucial close-range save to deny Kyle Bartley’s header, with Ruairi McConville clearing the rebound off the line.

West Brom, currently in sixth place and only five points ahead of Norwich, struggled to break down a resilient home team. The Canaries, who hadn't won in their previous four matches, deserved the win and proved their ability to compete with the top teams in the league.

The Baggies had a couple of early chances which Gunn managed to keep out, making important saves to deny Karlan Grant and Torbjorn Heggem.

Norwich had their moments too, with Sargent missing a clear opportunity after being set up by Borja Sainz. The match was evenly poised, with both teams creating chances.

As the game progressed, Norwich dominated the second half, with Marcelino Nunez coming close from a free-kick. In stoppage time, Sargent capitalized on a defensive error to score the decisive goal.
