Aberdeen turned the game around to beat Motherwell 4-1 and clinch a spot in the top six of the William Hill Scottish Premiership.
Jimmy Thelin’s team made a strong start but fell behind to a Callum Slattery header before rallying with goals from Alfie Dorrington and Leighton Clarkson in the first half at Pittodrie.
Kevin Nisbet, the in-form striker, scored twice in the second half to secure the victory.
Aberdeen, missing goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov due to injury, made three changes from their previous match against St Johnstone, while Motherwell made two changes from their game against St Mirren.
The Dons began brightly, with Jeppe Okkels setting up Topi Keskinen early on, but the Finnish winger’s shot went wide.
Motherwell surprised everyone by taking the lead despite not venturing forward much in the opening minutes. Harry Paton provided the assist for Slattery to score with a header off the underside of the bar.
However, Aberdeen quickly responded. Ellery Balcombe saved a shot from Keskinen, and Dorrington capitalized on a loose ball from a corner to equalize with a deflected shot.
Aberdeen kept pushing, with Balcombe denying Nisbet and Clarkson before the latter scored a brilliant goal from outside the box.
As the game progressed, Aberdeen continued to dominate, with opportunities for Clarkson and Ante Palaversa blocked soon after halftime.
Motherwell had a chance to level the score when Slattery played a through-ball to Tom Sparrow, but the effort missed the target.
Aberdeen extended their lead in the 77th minute when Nisbet converted a header from Alexander Jensen’s cross.
Nisbet sealed the victory with a long-range goal in stoppage time, ensuring a convincing win for Aberdeen.
