Late equalizer secured by Barnsley in Conor Hourihane's debut match as manager at home

Jonathan Lewis scored a late goal to save a 1-1 draw for Barnsley against struggling Cambridge in League One.

James Brophy put Cambridge ahead early in the game, but Lewis managed to score the equalizer in Conor Hourihane's debut match as interim head coach of Barnsley.

Cambridge are currently 12 points behind safety with eight matches remaining, having just broken a four-game losing streak.

Barnsley had a difficult start as Cambridge took the lead in the ninth minute with Brophy's goal past debutant goalkeeper Kieren Flavell.

Despite the visitors having a chance to extend their lead, they were unable to capitalize on a goal-mouth scramble.

In the second half, Barnsley pushed for a goal, with Adam Phillips and Max Watters coming close to scoring.

The home team's appeals for a penalty were denied, much to the frustration of the fans at Oakwell.

In the final moments of the game, Davis Keillor-Dunn hit the crossbar before Lewis finally scored the equalizer in stoppage time.

A cross from Fabio Jalo was headed in by Lewis, helping Barnsley secure their first point in four matches.
