Hearts Come from Behind to Defeat St Mirren with Nieuwenhof Goal

Calem Nieuwenhof made an impressive impact in his first start in almost a year, scoring a fantastic goal to help Hearts secure a 3-1 victory over St Mirren at Tynecastle. This win propelled Hearts into the top six of the William Hill Premiership for the first time this season.

The Australian midfielder previously scored a crucial equaliser against St Mirren in the Scottish Cup just over two weeks ago. Nieuwenhof, who had been sidelined due to injury since March 2 last year, once again showcased his talent by scoring a beautiful curling shot from 20 yards in the 63rd minute to put Hearts in the lead.

Teenage teammate James Wilson had earlier equalised after Mikael Mandron opened the scoring for St Mirren in the first half. Substitute Kenneth Vargas sealed the victory with a goal in added time, completing a remarkable comeback for Hearts.

Hearts manager Neil Critchley made three changes to the team that won 2-1 against St Johnstone, giving opportunities to new signings and players returning from injury. On the other hand, St Mirren maintained their lineup from their recent win against Rangers.

Despite St Mirren's early dominance, Hearts fought back and eventually equalised through Wilson's goal. Nieuwenhof's spectacular finish and Vargas' late goal secured the three points for Hearts, propelling them up the league table.
