Southend continues winning streak with victory at home against struggling Fylde

Southend secured their fourth victory in five National League matches with a 2-0 triumph over Fylde at Roots Hall.

Josh Walker scored the opening goal just before half-time with a fantastic individual effort following great saves by Southend goalkeeper Nathan Harness and Fylde keeper Ben Winterbottom.

The former Dagenham and Burton striker won the ball in midfield, embarked on a surging run towards the edge of the box, and placed a precise shot into the bottom corner.

Harness made another outstanding save to stop Fylde's Joe Riley from scoring, maintaining Southend's lead. Shortly after, Fylde's Emeka Obi inadvertently headed a dangerous cross from Gus Scott-Morriss into his own net in the 66th minute, as the visitors suffered their 12th away defeat in the league.
