Anticipate a high-scoring London derby between West Ham and Tottenham, say experts

West Ham and Tottenham have a total of four games remaining in the Premier League to move up the table if they want to avoid being known as the teams who narrowly escaped relegation this season.

With a 15-point gap separating the Hammers from the bottom three teams, including Ipswich, neither side is pleased with their current position after playing 34 games.

There is still a chance for them to improve as Everton, Manchester United, and Wolves are all just four points ahead of Tottenham. However, both teams are struggling with form, as West Ham has not won in seven matches and Spurs have lost five of their last six league games.

The previous encounter between the two teams this season ended with five goals, as Spurs triumphed 4-1 in October despite conceding first, suggesting another exciting matchup could be on the cards.

Ange Postecoglou might adjust his Spurs team considering their European campaign.

West Ham's Crysensio Summerville will be sidelined for the rest of the season due to a hamstring surgery, while Michail Antonio remains unavailable. Evan Ferguson is back in contention after being ineligible for the Brighton game.

Tottenham will be missing Radu Dragusin, and manager Ange Postecoglu may make changes to the lineup with Thursday's Europa League semi-final second leg against Bodo/Glimt in mind.

James Maddison and Dominic Solanke were both forced off with minor injuries in the first leg of the Europa League tie.

The stats

West Ham have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven matches.

The Hammers have conceded two or more goals in three of their last four games.

In their last three home matches, West Ham have only picked up two points.

West Ham have a negative home goal difference of -10 after winning just five of their 17 league games at the London Stadium.

Both teams have scored in eight of their last ten meetings between the two London rivals.

Tottenham have shipped 11 goals in their previous three league outings.

Spurs have suffered defeats in six of their last eight Premier League fixtures.

Prediction

West Ham will be banking on Tottenham's Europa League commitments to boost their chances of securing a much-needed victory in the derby. With West Ham being the favorites, a game with over 3.5 goals is the preferred option.

Graham Potter's side has been unconvincing, with a run of seven Premier League games without a win, including draws against Bournemouth and strugglers Southampton in their last two home matches.

Although they came close to victory in their recent game against Brighton, conceding two late goals resulted in a 3-2 loss. A draw seems like the most appealing choice considering both teams' struggles to secure wins in the league.

Tottenham has shown better performances in the Europa League, and their defense looked improved in the recent match against Bodo/Glimt compared to the 5-1 thrashing by Liverpool. A victory in this fixture is a significant target, adding an extra edge to the game, especially after West Ham's 4-1 defeat in the previous encounter.

Both teams boast attacking talent that outweighs their defensive prowess, indicating the likelihood of another high-scoring game.
