Wycombe's chances of automatic promotion suffer setback following heavy defeat to Charlton

Wycombe's chances of finishing in the top two took a big blow as they were convincingly beaten 4-0 at their own ground by Charlton, who are also fighting for promotion in League One.

Before the match, Wycombe were sitting in second place, just one point ahead of Wrexham. However, after the defeat, they have dropped down to third with only two matches left to play.

Charlton, on the other hand, kept their hopes of securing a top-two finish alive, sitting four points behind Wrexham. They dominated the game against Wycombe from the beginning and opened the scoring in the 11th minute through Lloyd Jones.

The lead was doubled in the 24th minute when Luke Berry scored a fantastic goal from outside the box. Wycombe struggled to create meaningful opportunities, and their fate was sealed around the one-hour mark.

A mistake by goalkeeper Will Norris led to Matt Godden scoring Charlton's third goal in the 58th minute. Shortly after, Karoy Anderson's header made it 4-0, leaving Charlton fans delighted.

Despite the victory, Charlton had to play the final moments of the game with 10 players as Chuks Aneke was shown a red card in added time following an altercation with Luke Leahy.
