Motherwell secures a draw against St Mirren thanks to Callum Slattery's two goals

Callum Slattery scored two goals to help Motherwell secure a draw in a fiercely competitive match against St Mirren at Fir Park.

St Mirren took the lead with goals from Caolan Boyd-Munce and Killian Phillips in the first half.

Slattery quickly responded with a goal to bring Motherwell back into the game and later equalized 19 minutes before the end.

Toyosi Olusanya was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in the second half, giving Motherwell hope for a comeback.

Due to a serious injury to Boyd-Munce, there was a lengthy stoppage time of 14 minutes at the end of the game, but neither team could score a winner.

Motherwell dropped out of the top six, while St Mirren moved up to seventh place, four points away from the top half of the table.

Early in the game, Motherwell missed a great opportunity to score within the first 70 seconds.

Tom Sparrow took advantage of confusion in St Mirren's defense but missed the target with his chip shot.

St Mirren responded with Jonah Ayunga setting up Ryan Alebiosu for a powerful shot that went wide.

In the 32nd minute, Stephen O’Donnell made a crucial goal-line clearance following a scramble from Declan John’s corner kick.

However, St Mirren managed to score one minute later with Boyd-Munce's shot deflecting off O’Donnell into the net.

The visitors extended their lead when Phillips scored brilliantly after receiving the ball from Andy Halliday's clearance.

Motherwell quickly pulled one back with a goal from Slattery after 35 minutes.

Motherwell almost equalized just before halftime but Lennon Miller's shot went inches wide.

Manager Michael Wimmer made a double substitution in the 58th minute, bringing on Tony Watt and Harry Paton.

Boyd-Munce was stretchered off after a collision just after the hour mark, causing concern for both teams.

Motherwell leveled the score with a goal from Slattery with 19 minutes remaining.

Olusanya's second booking led to St Mirren playing with 10 men for the rest of the game.

Due to several stoppages in the second half, 14 minutes of added time were played.

Both teams had few chances in the added time, with St Mirren's Alex Gogic missing a header just over the bar.
