Week 31 Scottish Premiership Match Previews

- Celtic have not experienced consecutive losses in the Premiership in 15 months
- Kilmarnock have not been defeated in their last 11 matches against St Mirren
- St Johnstone, currently at the bottom of the table, have only lost two out of their last 10 matches in all competitions

The Scottish Premiership is back after the international break with five matches scheduled for Saturday before Ross County faces Dundee United on Sunday.

Aberdeen vs Motherwell (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Aberdeen will aim for a victory to secure a spot in the top six for the upcoming split, but they will face a tough test against Motherwell at a sold-out Pittodrie.

After coming back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with St Mirren before the break, Motherwell have shown resilience following their recent wins over Dundee and Rangers.

While Michael Wimmer has been successful with Motherwell, Aberdeen's inconsistency was highlighted in their last match, a dull 0-0 draw against St Johnstone.

Score prediction: Aberdeen 1-1 Motherwell

Celtic vs Hearts (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Celtic's last back-to-back league defeats date back to December 2023, and a similar performance to their recent 3-2 loss in the Old Firm clash could see history repeat itself.

Under Neil Critchley, Hearts have been performing well as they push for a place in the top six, with just two defeats since Boxing Day.

If Celtic guard against complacency, they are expected to bounce back to winning ways against Hearts in what could be a high-scoring encounter at Parkhead.

Score prediction: Celtic 4-3 Hearts

Hibernian vs St Johnstone (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Hibernian have been in impressive form, with only Celtic managing to defeat them since late November.

Despite St Johnstone's recent resurgence with 11 points from their last seven matches, they have struggled against top-six teams this season. Hibs are favored to claim victory at Easter Road.

Score prediction: Hibernian 2-0 St Johnstone

St Mirren vs Kilmarnock (Saturday, 3.00pm)

St Mirren have conceded 10 goals in their last three games after their surprise win over Rangers, but they may take comfort in Kilmarnock's poor away form. Killie have lost their last five away matches and have not won on the road since October.

However, Kilmarnock will be pleased that St Mirren will be without their top scorers Mikael Mandron (injured) and Toyosi Olusanya (suspended), making this match potentially uneventful.

Score prediction: St Mirren 0-0 Kilmarnock

Dundee vs Rangers (Saturday, 5.30pm)

Barry Ferguson has brought a positive vibe to Rangers since becoming the coach.
Barry Ferguson has brought a positive vibe to Rangers since becoming the coach.

Rangers' recent 3-2 victory over Celtic has boosted their confidence, especially with upcoming fixtures including a Europa League quarter-final against Athletic Bilbao.

Having won their last five away matches, Rangers, under Barry Ferguson, are expected to continue their good form with a victory at Dens Park.

Dundee ended a seven-game winless run by defeating United 4-2 in the city derby, but their defensive vulnerabilities could be exposed against Rangers, who have notched goals consistently away from home.

Score prediction: Dundee 1-3 Rangers

Ross County vs Dundee Utd (Sunday, 2.30pm)

Ross County have won three of their last five matches, including their most recent two at home.

Dundee United, coming off a defeat to their city rivals before the break, have lost six of their last eight matches. They will be eager to halt their poor run, and facing the division's lowest scorers could give them a chance to secure at least a point.

Score prediction: Ross County 1-1 Dundee United
