Tranmere's unbeaten streak reaches five games after goalless draw against Fleetwood

Tranmere preserved their unbeaten streak in Sky Bet League Two with a fifth consecutive tie, holding Fleetwood to a goalless standoff at Highbury.

Despite creating more scoring opportunities in a messy game, Andy Crosby's team had to be content with a single point as they aim to climb higher in the league table.

The hosts came close to scoring in the early stages when Mark Helm took a shot after a powerful run, narrowly missing the target.

On the other side, Sam Finley's long-range effort for the away team flew just over the crossbar, as they dominated possession as the first half progressed.

Tranmere believed they had broken the deadlock before half-time as Jordan Turnbull found the net from a corner, only for the goal to be disallowed for offside.

In the second half, Tranmere continued to pose a threat with Harvey Saunders missing the target by a slight margin and substitute Kristian Dennis shooting straight at Jay Lynch.

The best opportunities for the home team in the closing stages fell to Helm, whose shot from distance drifted wide, and Phoenix Patterson's late free-kick which sailed over the crossbar.
