Altrincham had an opportunity to secure a spot in the National League play-off positions, but they were defeated 2-1 at their home ground by Aldershot, who extended their lead over the relegation zone to seven points with Maxwell Mullins' late goal.
In the first half, Altrincham dominated the game, and their chance to score was denied by a brilliant save from Aldershot's goalkeeper Marcus Dewhurst in the 26th minute, as Alex Newby's attempt was stopped. Will Armitage also made a crucial goal-line clearance to prevent Justin Amaluzor's lob from finding the net.
Aldershot took the lead in the 65th minute when Cameron Hargreaves finished Tyler Frost's cross. Despite Altrincham equalizing through Newby's impressive goal eight minutes later, Mullins secured the victory for Aldershot with a strike into the top corner in the final moments of the match.
