Derby County's winless streak in the league has now reached nine matches after they were unable to secure a victory against Oxford in a match that ended in a goalless draw at Pride Park.
Both teams were evenly matched and struggled to create many scoring opportunities, resulting in Derby's last league win dating back to Boxing Day when they defeated West Brom.
Despite the focus being on the imminent appointment of John Eustace as the new head coach, Derby had to focus on the task at hand against an Oxford side performing well under former Derby boss Gary Rowett.
The game got off to a slow start with both teams finding it difficult to break through the opposition defense in the first 20 minutes of play.
Oxford came close to scoring first when Siriki Dembele took a shot from outside the penalty area, but Derby's goalkeeper, Jacob Widell Zetterstrom, made a crucial save to keep the score level.
Derby then had their own chances, with David Ozoh's shot deflected for a corner and Kenzo Goudmijn's effort blocked inside the six-yard box.
As the first half neared its end, Derby had an opportunity with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing's shot from outside the box, but it was easily saved by Jamie Cumming in the Oxford goal.
Both teams were lacking creativity in the final third, and Lars-Jorgen Salvesen attempted a scissor-kick that was saved by Cumming in the 59th minute.
Salvesen had another chance with a header from a corner, forcing Cumming into another save, before Marcus Harness headed a cross over the bar.
Despite Oxford's attempts with dangerous crosses into the box, they were unable to find a breakthrough, highlighting the game's intensity but lack of quality in front of goal.
Jerry Yates and Greg Leigh had opportunities for both teams, but neither could find the back of the net as the match ended in a stalemate.
In stoppage time, Derby secured a draw as Zetterstrom confidently caught a free-kick from Oxford, earning Derby a valuable point that moves them out of the relegation zone for now.
