Replacement player Harry Wilson scored two late goals as Fulham fought back to defeat west London rivals Brentford 2-1 in an exciting Premier League match.
Initially, the visiting team took the lead with a goal from Vitaly Janelt before Wilson came off the bench to score twice in extra time, securing the victory at Craven Cottage.
This thrilling finish allowed Marco Silva’s team to end a streak of three winless matches.
Reiss Nelson entered the starting lineup instead of Adama Traore and the player on loan from Arsenal was actively involved in the game, nearly giving Fulham the lead in the early stages.
Nelson, playing on the left side, was set up by fellow Arsenal academy graduate Emile Smith Rowe, and after his first shot was saved by Mark Flekken, the Brentford goalkeeper managed to make a double save.
Smith Rowe’s skills were evident throughout the match and the record signing for Fulham was pivotal in a great play that almost resulted in a goal in the 16th minute.
The midfielder initiated a quick passing sequence involving Nelson and Antonee Robinson, and his shot was blocked heroically by Nathan Collins, preventing the ball from curling into the bottom right corner.
Despite facing early pressure from Fulham, Brentford held firm and Janelt then scored with a powerful shot.
The visitors’ high pressing paid off as they recovered the ball in an advanced position, allowing Janelt to fire a left-footed shot past Bernd Leno and into the net.
Silva made a substitution after an hour, introducing Traore to inject pace down the right flank.
At this stage, Frank’s team adopted a defensive approach, but Traore took on Bees left-back Sepp Van Den Berg, providing a cross for Raul Jimenez, who failed to capitalize on the opportunity with his header.
Fulham continued to push for an equalizer, and Traore played a key role in the goal during added time.
The speedy Spaniard made a run down the right wing and found Wilson, whose clever touch beat Flekken and ended up in the far corner of the net.
Despite his frustration over lack of starts, Wilson wasn't done. Just five minutes later, he instinctively attacked a cross from Robinson, heading in the decisive goal to the joy of the home fans.
