Jamie Vardy reaches milestone with 200th Leicester goal in his last match for the Foxes

Jamie Vardy ended his time at Leicester with a bang by scoring his 200th goal in his 500th and last match for the club in a 2-0 win against Ipswich, who were also relegated.

The 38-year-old striker from England had a perfect send-off with the Foxes exactly 13 years after joining from Fleetwood for £1million.

Vardy leaves behind a strong legacy at Filbert Way, including helping Leicester avoid relegation in 2015, winning the Premier League at 5,000-1 odds the next year, and claiming an FA Cup victory in 2021.

He delighted fans by scoring the opening goal in the 28th minute before receiving a guard of honor from teammates when he was substituted with 10 minutes remaining in his final Leicester appearance.

The top scorer in the 2019-20 Premier League had missed two earlier chances but made no mistake the third time to net his ninth league goal of the season for a team that has struggled with scoring this year.

Kasey McAteer added another goal in the 69th minute to secure the win for Leicester, but the match was more about farewells as both teams prepare for the Championship.

Despite Leicester's relegation, the day was a celebration of one of their greatest players, with some positive signs in recent performances giving hope to the fans.

Vardy led the team onto the field at King Power Stadium for the last time, with fans displaying "Thank you Vards" flags and banners reading "Goodbye GOAT" to mark his final appearance.

In a bid to spoil the farewell, Kieran McKenna's side made an early effort with Leif Davis hitting the post, but Vardy soon made his mark with his historic goal.

James Justin spotted Vardy's run, fed him the ball, and the striker calmly slotted it past the goalkeeper to reach the milestone.

Despite attempts from Ipswich to disrupt the celebrations, Leicester held onto their lead, with goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk making key saves and McAteer sealing the victory with a second goal.

Vardy was substituted to a guard of honor from his teammates in the closing moments of the match, bidding farewell to Leicester as a player for the last time.
