Bromley secures victory over Morecambe, pushing them nearer to relegation with Michael Cheek's decisive goal

Michael Cheek's penalty helped Bromley secure a 1-0 win against a 10-man Morecambe, pushing the Shrimpers closer to relegation.

Cheek came close to scoring in the first 10 minutes, narrowly missing the target with a curling shot over the crossbar past Harry Burgoyne.

Burgoyne then made some crucial saves, denying Kamarl Grant's long-range effort and producing an impressive stop to keep out Omar Sowunmi's header.

Burgoyne continued to shine, stopping Danny Imray's attempt just before the half-hour mark.

However, there was no stopping Cheek's penalty early in the second half, as he slammed the ball low into the corner for his 22nd goal of the season after Danny Imray was fouled in the box.

Morecambe reacted strongly after conceding, with Grant Smith making saves from Lee Angol and Andrew Dallas. Ashley Charles also cleared Max Taylor's header off the line as Morecambe pushed for an equalizer.

But Morecambe's hopes were dashed when David Tutonda was sent off for a second yellow card in the 67th minute.

With three games left, Morecambe now find themselves eight points from safety at the bottom of League Two.
