Boston bolsters chances of avoiding relegation with convincing victory against Southend

Boston achieved a crucial 3-0 win against Southend, who are fighting for a spot in the play-offs, bringing them closer to moving out of the National League relegation zone.

Frankie Maguire, Jimmy Knowles, and Zak Mills scored the goals that helped Boston climb two positions to 21st place, tied with Dagenham in the battle for survival.

The first half was evenly contested, but Boston took control in the second half. Maguire opened the scoring in the 50th minute, followed by Knowles extending the lead with a goal from a quick counterattack seven minutes later.

Southend fell further behind when Mills added a third goal, and their hopes of a consolation were dashed when Josh Walker's goal was disallowed for offside.
