Carlisle falls six points behind Tranmere after drawing against MK Dons

Carlisle managed to improve their position in the League Two relegation race with a 2-2 draw against MK Dons.

Joe Tomlinson surprised the home team by scoring first just six minutes into the game, but Carlisle responded with a goal from Matty Dennis in the middle of the first half.

The score didn't stay level for long as MK Dons regained the lead with a goal from captain Alex Gilbey, only to be equalized by Kadeem Harris just before halftime, leaving Carlisle six points behind Tranmere, who are third from the bottom.

MK Dons took the lead after Aaron Nemane passed to Tomlinson, who calmly scored at the far post.

Carlisle leveled the score in the 26th minute with Dennis heading home a cross from Archie Davies.

The visitors scored again in the 37th minute through Gilbey, who capitalized on a mistake in the Carlisle defense.

Harris then equalized for Carlisle in stoppage time of the first half with a powerful shot from the right side of the box.

In the second half, there were few clear chances for either team, with Connal Trueman making a good save on a long-range shot from Jordan Jones.

Carlisle had an opportunity to score a late winner when Stephen Wearne met a cross from Jones, but his header went over the bar.
