Brilliant free-kick by Reece James propels England to comfortable victory over Latvia

England took a step towards securing their second victory in the World Cup qualifying campaign as they comfortably defeated Latvia with the help of an impressive free-kick from Reece James.

Following their 2-0 win over Albania, England continued their winning streak with a 3-0 victory over Latvia in their first-ever senior men's meeting.

James opened the scoring with a spectacular free-kick, Harry Kane added another goal to his tally, and Eberechi Eze scored his first international goal to seal the win for England.

Although the quality of England's performance may be up for debate, it was a convincing victory considering they were facing the 140th-ranked team in the world.

Despite a scare early on when Vladislavs Gutkovskis missed a chance for Latvia, England took the lead through James' brilliant set-piece goal.

Kane extended the lead with a goal from a Declan Rice cross, and Eze's deflected strike further solidified England's dominance.

England, under the guidance of Thomas Tuchel, controlled the game and created several opportunities to score, eventually claiming a comfortable victory at Wembley.
