Hakeeb Adelakun scores penalty to secure draw for 10-man Salford against Newport

Two penalties in the first half led to a 1-1 draw between 10-man Salford and Newport at the Peninsula stadium.

Newport took the lead early with Shane McLoughlin converting a penalty in the 11th minute, earned after Curtis Tilt mistimed his tackle on David Ajiboye.

Salford fought back and equalized with their own penalty after Ben Shephard was brought down in the box by Keiron Evans, allowing Hakeeb Adelakun to calmly score from 12 yards.

Newport tried to break their streak of five consecutive losses by sitting back in the second half, while Salford controlled the ball but couldn't threaten Nick Townsend in goal.

Newport had a chance to capitalize on their one-man advantage after Tyrese Fornah was sent off for a second yellow card in the 75th minute, but they couldn't convert and settled for a draw.
