Man City's Phil Foden scores twice in 6-0 victory over Ipswich, propelling them back to top four

Phil Foden scored two goals and Erling Haaland marked his new contract with a goal as Manchester City secured their largest Premier League victory in over two years.

Foden, who has been in great form recently, scored his fifth goal in three matches in a 6-0 win against struggling Ipswich.

Haaland also found the back of the net after committing his future to the club, along with Mateo Kovacic, Jeremy Doku, and James McAtee. The win pushed City up to fourth place, overtaking Newcastle on goal difference.

This victory is City's biggest since beating Nottingham Forest 6-0 in August 2022, and it brings them back into the top four for the first time since December 1.

City missed an opportunity to take the lead early on when Haaland's shot was saved after Kovacic's through-ball split open the Ipswich defense. However, City dominated the game from that point onwards.

Despite a brief threat from Ipswich, City continued to press forward, with Kevin De Bruyne setting up Foden for the opening goal. City then quickly doubled their lead through Kovacic.

City's dominance continued in the second half, with Doku and Haaland increasing their lead. McAtee added the final goal to seal the 6-0 win.

Although memories of Ipswich's 9-0 defeat to Manchester United 30 years ago may have resurfaced, City stopped at six goals on this occasion.
