Middlesbrough respond with a strong win against QPR after losing to Coventry

Middlesbrough returned to winning form with a strong 4-1 win over QPR at Loftus Road in the Sky Bet Championship.

Following the disappointing 3-0 loss to Coventry over the weekend, Boro responded with two first-half goals from Riley McGree and Tommy Conway.

After Anfernee Dijksteel scored an own goal in the second half, Emmanuel Latte Lath sealed the victory with a calm finish in the 87th minute and Dan Barlaser added a fourth goal in injury time.

Middlesbrough looked more at ease in the early stages and controlled the ball in the final third, looking more likely to score first.

Liverpool loanee Ben Doak impressed for Michael Carrick’s team, dominating the right side as Rangers' left-back Hevertton Santos had difficulty handling the young player.

Doak's skill became evident as he gained confidence and assisted in setting up his team's first goal. The 18-year-old once again outpaced Santos and crossed the ball towards McGree, who scored past Paul Nardi.

QPR's weak defending on the same side persisted as Boro exploited Santos' vulnerabilities. A precise pass between defenders left Santos struggling before another pass from Finn Azaz found Conway, who made it 2-0 after 35 minutes.

Boro goalkeeper Seny Dieng frustrated his former team with several important saves to maintain the 2-0 lead, denying Kieran Morgan twice and making a crucial stop from Nicolas Madsen.

The home team needed a response and pushed forward in the second half, eventually scoring from a corner. A delivery from Lucas Andersen led to a scramble in the six-yard box, resulting in Dijksteel inadvertently scoring an own goal for Boro.

QPR tried to mount a late comeback but Boro capitalized on a dangerous counter-attack to secure the win. Latte Lath scored after a skillful move around the keeper, while Barlaser added a fourth goal in injury time.
