Get Ready for the Upcoming NFL Season: Pre-season Schedule Revealed

The clock is ticking down to the upcoming NFL season, stirring up a wave of enthusiasm worldwide for what promises to be an enthralling and unpredictable journey towards the Super Bowl.

Having clinched the Lombardi Trophy in February, the Philadelphia Eagles are set to kick off the new season as the defending champions. However, the Kansas City Chiefs, with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce leading the charge, are eager to recapture the title, heading a strong field of contenders.

Teams such as the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, and Detroit Lions are all harbouring dreams of reaching the Super Bowl in Santa Clara, setting the stage for an intense battle to claim the ultimate prize.

With excitement building for the upcoming season, here's a breakdown of key details regarding the season launch, pre-season lineup, and early marquee matchups to mark on your calendar.

Commencement of the New NFL Season

The 2025 NFL regular season is slated to commence on Thursday, September 4, with the customary season-opening showdown featuring the reigning Super Bowl champions.

The Philadelphia Eagles will kick off the season at home against their NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, in what appears to be a tantalizing matchup.

The first Sunday of the season, on September 7, will present a full slate of games, highlighted by a marquee Sunday Night Football clash between the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens - two prime contenders in the AFC.

One of the most anticipated early games arrives in Week 2, as the Eagles journey to Arrowhead Stadium for a Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs.

This game will serve as an early litmus test for the Eagles in their quest to defend their title against the formidable Chiefs led by Patrick Reid.

The upcoming season will showcase a record seven international games, featuring matchups in cities such as London, Berlin, Madrid, Sao Paulo, and Dublin as the NFL continues its global outreach.

The regular season will extend until January 4, 2026, with the playoffs commencing the subsequent week. Super Bowl LX is set to take place on February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in California.

Commencement of NFL Pre-Season

Prior to the onset of the regular season, teams will engage in training camps and a condensed pre-season timetable to gear up for the demanding season ahead.

The pre-season action kicks off with the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, July 31, featuring a clash between the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Chargers in Canton, Ohio.

This traditional opener is part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's induction weekend and provides a good warm-up for several NFL teams.

Following the Hall of Fame Game, the pre-season schedule progresses with Week 1 contests from August 7-10, followed by additional matches in the ensuing two weeks.

Noteworthy matchups include the New England Patriots vs. the New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings vs. the Tennessee Titans.

Due to their involvement in the Hall of Fame Game, both the Lions and Chargers will partake in four pre-season games, while other teams will engage in three.
