Morecambe's drop from the Football League after nearly two decades was sealed following a 3-1 loss to Salford in League Two at the Mazuma Stadium.
The Shrimps were in need of a victory to possibly stay in the league, but their hopes were dashed as Ossama Ashley scored for the Ammies in just three minutes with a well-placed shot from 12 yards out that beat Harry Burgoyne.
Despite Burgoyne making some impressive saves to deny Ben Woodburn and Luke Garbutt, former Morecambe player Cole Stockton extended Salford's lead with a well-executed shot after an assist from Woodburn.
The hosts showed more urgency in the second half, with Rosaire Longelo coming close to scoring an own goal from a right-wing cross, but Morecambe managed to pull one back in the 52nd minute.
A long throw by Max Taylor caused problems for the Salford defense, allowing Yann Songo'o to find the back of the net with a precise shot from inside the box.
Although Morecambe attempted a comeback, it was Salford who scored again, with Kelly N'Mai left unmarked in the six-yard box to convert Hakeeb Adelakun's cross past Burgoyne.
