Cambridge secures vital victory against Huddersfield to boost survival chances

Cambridge reacted exceptionally well to a late Huddersfield goal to enhance their slim chances of avoiding relegation with a 2-1 win in West Yorkshire.

The outcome means Neil Harris’ team is now five points adrift from safety with only three matches remaining, while Huddersfield missed another opportunity to edge closer to the top six.

The opening half was uneventful for both teams until Cambridge finally took the lead in the 69th minute, swiftly capitalizing on a Huddersfield goal kick as Josh Stokes seized the opportunity.

Although it seemed like the forward had lost control, Josh Ruffels’ clearance found James Brophy on the edge of the box, and he skillfully placed it into the top corner.

Despite Huddersfield's squandered opportunities, Josh Koroma managed to level the score in the 89th minute from a messy corner kick.

There was one final twist in stoppage time when Sullay Kaikai brilliantly struck the ball into the top corner following Brophy’s pass.
