Matt Ritchie netted his first two goals at Fratton Park for Portsmouth in a 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough.
Emmanuel Latte Lath, who has been rumored to be considering a move to MLS side Atlanta United, broke the deadlock for Middlesbrough with a composed finish.
But it was Ritchie who stole the show in the second half, scoring twice to secure Pompey's fifth home win in six matches, although it wasn't enough to lift them out of the relegation zone.
The game was overshadowed by a concerning incident in the stands, with a spectator needing medical attention just three seconds after the match had kicked off by referee Gavin Ward.
This led to a 35-minute delay, during which the players returned to the dressing rooms.
Once play resumed and the spectator was safely taken care of, Middlesbrough had a strong start with Latte Lath testing Portsmouth goalkeeper Nicolas Schmid early on with a powerful shot from outside the box.
Portsmouth then started to find their rhythm, with Freddie Potts and Callum Lang coming close to scoring but failing to beat Tom Glover in the Middlesbrough goal.
After a period of few chances, Middlesbrough took the lead through Delano Burgzorg's assist to Latte Lath, who rounded the keeper to notch his 11th goal of the season.
Hayden Hackney missed a golden opportunity to double Middlesbrough's lead shortly after, before Portsmouth equalized against the run of play in the 54th minute.
Ritchie latched onto a pass from Potts and chipped the ball over Glover to score his first home goal at Fratton Park, much to the delight of the fans.
Ritchie came close to adding another goal with a long-range free-kick that sailed just over the crossbar before eventually sealing the win with a precise finish from an acute angle.
His goals ensured Portsmouth's victory and condemned Middlesbrough to just one win in their last seven matches.
