Alessia Russo scored her first goal of Euro 2025 for England as they advanced to the quarter-finals with a 6-1 win over Wales. Georgia Stanway opened the scoring with a penalty in the 13th minute, followed by Ella Toone doubling the lead in the 21st minute and providing two assists. Lauren Hemp added a third goal within the first half-hour, Russo scored just before half-time, and Beth Mead made it five before Hannah Cain scored Wales' second-ever goal in a major tournament.
Aggie Beever-Jones scored her first goal of the tournament for England, who will now face Sweden in the next round after finishing as runners-up in Group D.
England coach Sarina Wiegman kept the same starting line-up, while Wales made three changes to their team. Olivia Clark replaced the goalkeeper, Rhiannon Roberts returned to defense, and Carrie Jones got her first start.
England initially received a free-kick for a foul on Stanway but were awarded a penalty after a VAR review. Stanway converted the penalty to give England the lead.
Wales' Jess Fishlock attempted to score from a distance but missed the target. Toone scored the second goal after a clearance fell to Russo, who set up Manchester United's Toone.

Wales had opportunities to score towards the end of the first half, but were unable to find the back of the net. In the second half, Mead and Park came on as substitutes for England.
More changes were made by England's coach in the second half, with Kelly and Beever-Jones coming on for James and Russo. Beever-Jones set up Mead for the fifth goal with a well-taken finish.
Fishlock provided an assist for Cain, who scored a stylish goal to give Wales hope. Beever-Jones then sealed the win for England with their sixth goal, assisted by Mead.
