Braintree clinch safety by defeating Rochdale

Braintree secured their place in the National League with a 2-0 victory at home against Rochdale in the closing game of the season.

Starting the match in 19th place, the team from Essex only needed a draw to ensure safety. However, they clinched all three points against the fourth-placed Dale, who will now focus on the upcoming play-offs.

The hosts took the lead through Kyrell Lisbie in injury time of the first half and he extended Braintree's advantage 11 minutes into the second half.

Rochdale will welcome Southend on May 15 for a play-off qualifying match, while Braintree finished in 17th place in the final standings.
