Soccer player Sonny Carey found the net twice to halt Reading's unbeaten streak of 11 matches and hinder their quest for a play-off spot with a 3-0 triumph at Bloomfield Road.
Under the guidance of Steve Bruce, Blackpool increased their chances of securing a top-six finish in Sky Bet League One by securing their third consecutive victory.
Goalkeeper Joel Pereira of Reading made an impressive save to deny Sonny Carey early in the game, while Lewis Wing missed a chance for the Royals in the first half.
Shortly after the beginning of the second half, Pereira made another good save to deflect Carey's shot wide.
Nevertheless, in-form player Carey opened the scoring in the 52nd minute by beating Pereira with a shot after a pass from Ashley Fletcher.
Only two minutes later, the home team extended their advantage when Olly Casey scored from close range after Niall Ennis set him up following a cross from Lee Evans.
Blackpool's top goal-scorer Fletcher and Tom Bloxham were both denied by Pereira during the game.
In stoppage time, however, the goalkeeper could only parry Sammy Silvera's cross into the path of the standout player Carey, who secured his sixth goal in as many matches with a powerful finish.
As a result of this latest victory, Reading fall out of the play-off positions, while Blackpool are now three points behind the promotion spots.
