Brentford defeats Bournemouth with goals from Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard

Brentford extended their dominance over Bournemouth in the Premier League, securing a fifth straight victory in away league matches for the first time in 15 years by coming from behind to claim a 2-1 win on the south coast.

Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard found the back of the net for Brentford after Vitaly Janelt's own goal initially put Bournemouth in the lead, earning Thomas Frank's team three crucial points that lifted them to 11th place in the standings.

Bournemouth's track record against Brentford didn't offer much hope; they had not beaten Brentford since August 2014 in the Championship, and Frank's side remained unbeaten in all five of their Premier League encounters prior to this match.

Leading up to the Saturday evening fixture, Bournemouth had suffered defeats in their last two home games, whereas Brentford had emerged victorious in their previous four away matches. Despite a bright start from the West London team, it was Bournemouth who drew first blood with the opening substantial opportunity.

Although Brentford had displayed an energetic performance from the beginning, they managed to level the score as DR Congo forward Wissa converted Bryan Mbuemo's cross with a close-range header for his 14th league goal of the season, catching home goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga off guard.

Shortly after, Mbuemo nearly scored himself with a shot that narrowly missed the target.

The intensity of the game increased as Bournemouth resumed their aggressive pressing tactics.

Evanilson came close to scoring when Dean Huijsen delivered the ball to the far post, and the Brazilian's attempt was denied by Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken as it was headed towards the crossbar.

At halftime, the score remained unchanged, but early in the second half, Semenyo struck the crossbar with a header from Justin Kluivert's precise cross as Andoni Iraola's side aimed to start the half strongly.

Similar to the first half, goal-scoring opportunities were scarce as the pace of the game picked up, with Bournemouth appearing more threatening.

Despite the flow of the game favoring Bournemouth, Brentford took the lead against the run of play. A long throw-in from Kevin Schade caused confusion in the hesitant Bournemouth defense, allowing Bees captain Norgaard to react first and score from the bouncing ball.

While European qualification through the league standings remains a realistic target for Bournemouth, their recent form of four losses in the last six league matches makes their upcoming FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City at home a pivotal moment in what has been a remarkable season for Iraola's team.

Having never progressed to the semi-finals of the competition, Bournemouth will look to draw inspiration from their victory against Pep Guardiola's side earlier in the season at the Vitality Stadium.
