Jovon Makama netted three goals in a row for the first time in his professional career as Lincoln dominated Bristol Rovers with a 5-0 victory, just like they did last year.
Bristol Rovers couldn't shake off their worries of getting relegated as they were convincingly defeated in the second half at Sincil Bank. Tom Bayliss and James Collins also added to the goal tally.
Despite some early saves from Rovers' goalkeeper Jed Ward to deny Reeco Hackett-Fairchild and Makama, Lincoln, who triumphed 5-0 against Bristol Rovers in the same match a year ago, started the game strongly.
At the half-hour mark, 21-year-old Makama scored the first goal after finishing off a superb pass from captain Paudie O’Connor.
The onslaught continued in the second half when Bayliss scored directly from a corner five minutes after the game resumed.
Shortly after, Collins, a former Luton player, extended the lead to 3-0 with an assist from Makama, with a skillful shot that beat Ward.
Makama secured his second goal with 20 minutes left by charging into the box and smashing a powerful shot past the goalkeeper.
The young player completed his hat-trick in the 81st minute by slotting the ball into the bottom corner after a failed clearance from Erik Ring's corner kick.
