Haji Wright scored three goals in the match to help Coventry secure a 3-0 win over Sunderland and climb back into the play-off positions at the CBS Arena.
The American player had previously been sidelined for almost four months due to an ankle injury he sustained in a game against Sunderland on November 9. Despite the setback, Wright returned to the pitch in style and emerged as Coventry's top scorer with seven goals for the season.
Wright opened the scoring with a powerful left-footed strike from outside the box, before adding a second goal from a penalty kick that he won himself. He completed his hat-trick with a superb finish, sealing his first-ever hat-trick in English football.
Coventry's victory was a significant turnaround after a recent defeat and a win by Bristol City. Sunderland struggled to threaten Coventry throughout the match, with their best chances falling short as they failed to break their winless away streak against Coventry that extended over 40 years.
Despite introducing their top scorer Wilson Isidor, Sunderland could not create enough opportunities and only managed one shot on target in the game.
