Northampton showcases impressive performance while holding Birmingham in draw

Leading Birmingham team was held to a 1-1 draw by Northampton, who are at the bottom of the table, at Sixfields.

An own goal by Tomoki Iwata put Northampton in the lead, but Keshi Anderson equalized for Birmingham. Despite Birmingham's strong push in the second half, they couldn't score another goal to win the match.

The first half saw Northampton dominating the game and creating more chances with 10 shots compared to Birmingham's two.

Early in the game, Dara Costelloe, Sam Hoskins, and Cameron McGeehan had close attempts at scoring before Iwata mistakenly scored an own goal under pressure from Costelloe. In stoppage time of the first half, Anderson scored for Birmingham from a cross by Cristoph Klarer.

In the second half, Birmingham played better, with Jay Stansfield missing a good chance and Willum Willumsson heading off target.

Despite Birmingham's late efforts, Northampton's strong defense secured them a crucial point in their fight against relegation.
