Late winner by Sam Nombe secures victory for Rotherham against Bristol Rovers

Sam Nombe scored a last-minute goal to help Rotherham secure a 3-2 victory over Bristol Rovers in the Sky Bet League One match at the Memorial Stadium.

Nombe, who also scored earlier in the game, scored his 10th goal of the season to give Rotherham the win and increase Bristol Rovers' chances of relegation.

Bristol Rovers started strong and took the lead after five minutes when Ruel Sotiriou scored from a difficult angle after a good play by Chris Martin.

Rotherham fought back and equalized in the 36th minute with Nombe scoring from close range after his initial shot was saved by Bristol Rovers' goalkeeper Jed Ward.

Steve Evans' team continued to dominate and extended their lead in the 52nd minute with Zak Jules heading in Joe Powell's corner kick.

Bristol Rovers' manager, Inigo Calderon, made three substitutions just after the hour mark to try to change the game for his team.

This move paid off in the 72nd minute when Aston Villa loanee defender Sil Swinkels scored a header from substitute Luke Thomas' cross.

However, it was Nombe who had the final say with his goal in added time, securing the victory for Rotherham and easing their relegation concerns.
