Bradford secures spot in top three with Calum Kavanagh's winning goal against Morecambe

Bradford climbed into the League Two top automatic promotion spots this season by defeating Morecambe, who are currently at the bottom of the league.

A goal from Calum Kavanagh in the first half secured the sixth victory in seven league matches for Graham Alexander’s team, continuing their winning streak at Valley Parade.

Bradford had a strong start, with Richie Smallwood and Brad Halliday challenging Morecambe's goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne early in the game.

Burgoyne made a save from Smallwood once again, but Kavanagh managed to score from 10 yards out after Antoni Sarcevic's initial shot was blocked.

Although Morecambe had struggled to create opportunities, Gwion Edwards had a chance that went over the bar after Tommy Leigh lost the ball.

In the second half, Bradford continued their attacking efforts, with Leigh and Bobby Pointon getting opportunities on goal. Sarcevic, playing in his 500th career match, missed a close-range header.

Morecambe came close to equalizing when Hallam Hope's header was saved by Sam Walker diving to his right after connecting with Harvey Macadam's cross.
