Controversial draw sees Rangers finish season against Hibernian

Rangers were disappointed about a controversial moment in the first half as they finished a mostly disappointing William Hill Premiership season with a 2-2 draw against Hibernian.

The second-placed team took the lead early on with top scorer Cyriel Dessers finding the net. They believed they should have scored again in the 15th minute when Nico Raskin seemed to have scored, but the referee didn't award the goal. Hibernian then equalized through Kieron Bowie.

Raskin did put Rangers back in front early in the second half, but Martin Boyle responded with his 99th goal for Hibs, maintaining their unbeaten home run for the last six months.

The draw meant interim manager Barry Ferguson, who is expected to be replaced in the summer, has only managed to secure six wins in his 15 matches in charge since taking over from Philippe Clement in February.

Hibs manager David Gray made four changes to the team that secured third place in the previous match, with Warren O’Hora, Alasana Manneh, Nicky Cadden, and Bowie coming in. Veteran striker Dwight Gayle was on the bench for what was his final professional game.

Rangers made two changes to their lineup due to injuries from the last match, with Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Danilo coming in for Jefte and Hamza Igamane.

The match began with Rangers taking the lead in the second minute. Raskin played a key role in the goal, setting up Dessers who scored emphatically from close range.

Rangers had to make an early substitution in the 10th minute due to an injury to Leon Balogun, who was replaced by Robin Propper. They had a chance to extend their lead soon after, but Vaclav Cerny was denied by the goalkeeper.

A crucial moment came in the 15th minute when Rangers thought they had scored a second goal, only to see Hibs equalize immediately through Bowie. Despite a VAR check, the goal stood, although replays suggested that Raskin's effort had crossed the line.

Both teams had chances in an eventful first half, but the score remained 1-1 at halftime. Raskin put Rangers ahead early in the second half with a header from a corner kick.

Hibs fought back once again to equalize through Boyle after a fantastic cross from Cadden, ensuring they maintain their unbeaten home record since November 9.
