Dale Taylor found the back of the net in the closing moments to help Wigan secure a 1-1 draw against Northampton in the last match of the season.
Northampton took the lead thanks to a goal from Tariqe Fosu before half-time, but Wigan managed to level the score with Taylor's late goal.
Northampton started strong at Sixfields, with Terry Taylor delivering a dangerous free-kick that almost resulted in an own goal, saved by Sam Tickle.
With nothing at stake for either team, the game lacked intensity and excitement, but Northampton brightened things up with a superb first goal in the 33rd minute.
Nesta Guinness-Walker initiated the goal with a swift break from a Wigan corner, delivering a brilliant pass to Fosu, who skillfully cut inside a defender and placed the ball neatly into the net.
Northampton was in control until the hour mark when Wigan pushed hard and came close to equalizing, only for Mitch Pinnock to clear Jason Kerr's header off the goal line.
Wigan eventually leveled the score late in the game through Taylor, who tapped in James Carragher's cross. However, the match ended on a sour note for Wigan as defender Will Aimson received a red card for a late challenge in the final action of the season.
