Bristol City’s George Earthy shines off the bench with two goals to secure victory over Boro

Player George Earthy scored two goals in the second half within just 10 minutes, helping Bristol City secure a thrilling 2-1 win over Middlesbrough at Ashton Gate and climb into the Championship play-off positions.

Replacing Anis Mehmeti in the 63rd minute, the West Ham loanee first scored from a cross by Cam Pring, and then tapped in a rebound following Scott Twine’s free-kick that hit the crossbar in the 82nd minute.

Middlesbrough initially took the lead when Tommy Conway, playing against his former team, found the net after goalkeeper Max O’Leary parried Kelechi Iheanacho’s shot into his path in the 37th minute.

However, Bristol City dominated the second half and deservedly claimed the victory.

Both teams had chances in the first 20 minutes of an evenly matched game. Twine had a near miss for City with a free-kick early on, while Neto Borges and Delano Burgzorg tested O’Leary in goal for Boro.

The hosts continued to push for an equalizer before the break with Mehmeti and Twine coming close, but Boro defended resolutely.

City maintained their pressure at the beginning of the second half, with Van Den Berg making a crucial block to deny Twine. The visitors had their moments too, with Travers making saves to keep them in the game.

An excellent move by City led to Earthy's double strike, ultimately securing the win. Travers made several important saves, but it was not enough to prevent Bristol City from claiming all three points and moving up to sixth place in the league standings.
