Josh Barrett netted three goals in a span of 10 minutes around half-time to lead Aldershot to a 3-1 win over Oldham, snapping their seven-game winless streak in the National League.
Barrett scored twice in quick succession just before the break, turning the game around after Manny Monthe had given Latics the lead with a strong header from Josh Kay's free-kick. Both of Barrett's goals were quite similar. The first one saw him chip the ball over Mathew Hudson following Tyler Frost's setup, while the second one came with a delicate finish from outside the box in stoppage time.
Early in the second half, Barrett completed his hat-trick by converting a pass from Theo Widdrington.
Despite having a chance to pull one back with a penalty in the middle of the second half, Oldham couldn't capitalize as Shots keeper Marcus Dewhurst denied Billy Waters, causing the hosts to miss an opportunity to solidify their top-five position.
