Spain stages a comeback to defeat Georgia and advance to quarter-finals against hosts Germany

Spain fought back from an early setback to secure a 4-1 victory over Georgia and book their spot in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals against hosts Germany.

In a surprising turn of events, the tournament debutants took the lead through an own goal by Robin Le Normand in the 18th minute. However, Rodri equalized for Spain just before halftime, and Fabian Ruiz gave them the lead early in the second half. Nico Williams and substitute Dani Olmo sealed the win with late goals.

Despite Georgia's spirited counter-attacking style of play, they were unable to hold off Spain, who dominated the match from the beginning. Spain launched continuous attacks, with several attempts on goal saved by Georgia's goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

After falling behind, Spain responded with determination, eventually breaking Georgia's defense with Rodri's clinical finish in the 39th minute. Georgia continued to threaten on the counter, but Spain's quality shone through with goals from Ruiz and Williams.

Although Georgia showed resilience, they were unable to contain Spain's relentless pressure, leading to Olmo's late goal that secured a convincing win for the Spanish side.
