Jamaica vs Venezuela match forecast: La Vinotinto poised to uphold flawless beginning

After suffering losses to Mexico and Ecuador in their first two Copa America matches, Jamaica has been knocked out of the competition and they are now focused on finishing with some dignity against Venezuela.

On the other hand, Venezuela is in a different position as they have emerged victorious against Ecuador and Mexico, taking the lead in Group B. They are now aiming to uphold their flawless record in the tournament in Austin, Texas.

Although Venezuela has already secured their spot in the next round, manager Fernando Batista might make some changes to the team. However, they will be cautious not to risk finishing second in the group, which could potentially lead them to a quarter-final clash with Argentina.

Team news

With Jamaica out of the tournament, manager Heimir Hallgrímsson is expected to make some alterations to the team, with Demarai Gray hoping to make a return to the starting lineup.

Michael Hector and Karoy Anderson from Charlton have been substitutes and could be vying for starting positions, alongside young striker Kaheim Dixon.

Amari'i Bell from Luton and Andre Blake from Philadelphia Union are both sidelined due to injuries and will not be available for selection.

Jon Aramburu, Eduard Bello, and Jefferson Savarino were included in Venezuela's starting lineup against Mexico in place of Alexander Gonzalez, Darwin Machis, and Cristian Casseres, and they are likely to retain their spots.

The stats

Heimir Hallgrímsson faces a tough challenge to improve Jamaica's defense after they gave up 43 shots in two matches.

Venezuela has lost only four of their last 21 international matches and have won their first two games in the Copa America.

Under Batista's guidance, they defeated Ecuador 2-1 and secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Mexico, resulting in most of their last 16 matches having three or fewer goals.

Interestingly, 11 out of their recent 14 games have had fewer than 2.5 goals.

Jamaica faced defeats in their first two matches, 1-0 against Mexico and 3-1 against Ecuador, and have struggled to secure wins in six of their last 11 games.

In the past decade, these teams have played against each other three times, with Venezuela winning two of those encounters without conceding a goal.

Only three of Jamaica's last eight matches have seen both teams scoring.

Salomon Rondon stands out as Venezuela's top scorer with 42 goals in 106 appearances, including the crucial penalty goal against Mexico.

Prediction

Considering Venezuela's strong start in the tournament, it seems reasonable to support them, especially since a draw would be sufficient for them to progress as Group B champions.

Their performances against Ecuador and Mexico were impressive, and these teams are considered stronger than Jamaica. Jamaica allowed numerous shots in both of their previous matches, indicating that Venezuela might have plenty of opportunities to score.

However, Jamaica will likely find it challenging to break through Venezuela's defense, as La Vinotinto have maintained seven clean sheets in their last 13 games, showcasing their solid organization under manager Batista.
