The Brazilian teams have been impressive in the Club World Cup with 2023 Copa Libertadores champions Fluminense facing Chelsea on Tuesday.

Chelsea suffered a 3-1 loss to Flamengo in the group stage but bounced back to advance to the knockout rounds, most recently defeating Palmeiras 2-1 in the quarter-finals.

Fluminense secured a 2-1 victory over Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia after an impressive 2-0 triumph against Inter Milan in the round of 16.

A turnaround in fortunes has been evident for Fluminense following Renato Gaucho's return for his sixth tenure as coach in April.

While Chelsea is relying on a youthful squad, Fluminense is led by 40-year-old former Chelsea captain Thiago Silva and goalkeeper Fabio, aged 44.

The experience of these players has been crucial in guiding Gaucho's team through matches. Despite missing suspended players Juan Pablo Freytes and Matinelli, Fluminense are expected to pose a challenge for a young Chelsea side.

Chelsea will be without Levi Colwill and Liam Delap due to suspensions, with Reece James's availability uncertain after being withdrawn from the Palmeiras game at the last minute.

The clash on Tuesday could be a tense affair, possibly requiring extra time.

Score prediction: Fluminense 1-1 Chelsea - Chelsea to win after extra time

Paris Saint-Germain vs Real Madrid (Wednesday, 8pm)

Luis Enrique's team PSG will play against Real Madrid in the semi-final match.
Luis Enrique's team PSG will play against Real Madrid in the semi-final match.

The second semi-final will showcase a meeting between the last two Champions League titleholders in New Jersey, as Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning champions, take on the team they succeeded, Real Madrid.

PSG had a slow start to the 2024-25 season, but Luis Enrique's youthful team evolved into an impressive unit, notably defeating Inter Milan 5-0 in Munich.

Real Madrid fell to Arsenal in the quarter-finals, the team PSG overcame in the semis, leading to a managerial change with Xabi Alonso taking over from Carlo Ancelotti.

The former Bayer Leverkusen manager and ex-Real Madrid player has already made an impact in his short tenure, transitioning the team to a back three formation, which enabled new signing Trent Alexander-Arnold to play as a wing-back. The attacking setup is yet to settle following Kylian Mbappe's first goal of the tournament against Borussia Dortmund.

Gonzalo Garcia has been impressive for Real Madrid but may make way for Mbappe against his former club, with recent signing Dean Huijsen unavailable due to a red card in the last match against BVB.

PSG will be missing Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez due to suspensions from the 2-0 quarter-final victory over Bayern Munich.

Ousmane Dembele scored his first goal of the Club World Cup as a substitute and is set to start in the USA, potentially leading to an entertaining triumph for the French side.

Score prediction: Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 Real Madrid
